Particulate material control systems in fixed emission sources, such as shot blasting machines, ovens, and paint booths, are supported by isokinetic measurement reports within permissible ranges for the year 2023.
CIRCULAR ECONOMY
Drillco® offers its customers the necessary support to implement a Circular Economy system for drilling tools, both for the Drillco® brand and other brands used, considering all relevant variables in the Circular Economy concept.
This is defined as “The 3 Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle,” aiming not only for recycling as a final stage but also to reduce waste generation from its origin, reduce the use of potentially polluting products, and reuse as much material as possible. Ultimately, having reduced consumption and reused the surplus, the maximum possible percentage of the remaining material should be recycled.
The first aspect of a Circular Economy plan considers addressing the root cause of waste generation by reducing consumption through higher-performing products. Doing so has a significant impact on CO2 emissions, as less steel is produced to drill the same amount of meters. At Drillco®, we have a Continuous Improvement Program that allows us to constantly increase the lifespan of our products, thereby reducing the CO2 emissions required to produce more steel.
The second aspect of a Circular Economy plan considers reusing all possible components to increase the durability of tools and, consequently, reduce the consumption of new products, which generate emissions in their production process. Drillco offers a wide range of alternatives for reusing its products, including: Hammer maintenance, hammer restoration, drill sharpening, coating components to extend lifespan, and second-hand drilling tools.
Today, waste is recycled through steel recycling companies, which discard all components as a whole. In partnership with its strategic clients, Drillco has the ability to develop customized recycling projects, allowing each component of a discarded drilling tool (steel and tungsten) to be recycled separately, aiming for maximum impact on the reduction of CO2 emissions and contributing to the Circular Economy.
At Drillco, we have implemented eco-friendly packaging for our hammers, which is fully recyclable. We have also implemented a secure disposal system at our facilities for all materials derived from the manufacturing operation.
